Premium and Elite

Battalion Arena will have a ton of great content available for everyone. Unlimited multiplayer combat, ranked matches, access to player-created maps and on and on and on. We’re also going to be introducing two levels of membership for Battalion: Arena—Premium and Elite accounts.
What do each of our account types get you? I’m glad you asked. Here’s the breakdown:
Standard
- Access to All Standard Levels
- Singleplayer Level Editor
- Item Drops
- Customize Your Avatar
- Ranked Matches
Premium
- Access to ALL maps
- Join games immediately (priority seating during game matchmaking)
- Receive new items at twice the normal rate
- Extra unit colors for customization
- Create and share up to 20 of your own maps
- Access to the Spider Tank and Lancer Tank units
ELITE
- Access to ALL Premium features
- Access to 20 Elite-only items
- Unlocks all available unit color options
- Create and share up to 45 of your own maps
On top of these membership options, you’ll also be able to drop in and make small purchases for a huge variety of avatar customization options or random item boxes that will give you bonuses for your matches. We’re going to have a lot of stuff for you to snag.
We have also designed Arena so that everyone can have access to everything that game has to offer. You can still play 100% of the game’s features as long as a Premium or Elite member is involved.

And premium members from H2H become… premium? Elite?

Good luck with finnishing the game. I hope you are making progress on finding that ranged attack bug.

so we have to pay for elit and premium im assuming? if so for how much?

What??? So now premium members have special units? That is really going to break the balance between guys that can pay against those that have to make a big effort to be able to ship money.
If this game is going to give priorities to guys that pay on this game you can loose many potential players… I saw once how what could have been a great game lost a third of their players sort of because of putting features you had to buy that affected gameplay. I hope that there is some catch behind that will avoid that.
On the good side, thank you for continuing this project… I find the essence of the game unique. I personally love this kind of game

debux, the original Battalion had a premium membership as well, with members-only units. It didn’t break the game. You’re confusing “members only” with “superior”, I think.

Where the hell has the game gone? WHy is the server STILL down.
You are overcomplicating this game. I just want to be able to play. I already play mostly AI because there are no players online.
Why are the maps always so small too? I want a longer game.

Membership? Please explain.

If a premium or elite member is in a game, all players in that game have access to the special units, whether they are free, premium, or elite members. So no worries about giving an unfair advantage to anyone.

O! ok well then i dont really care about this lol. ^_^

Hmm, well it depends upon how much these units can be used for premium members…during H2H the only advantage premium members had over standard members was uber units, which weren’t very good other than the shadow tank, and the ability to buy badges, which were usually taken off when playing ranked games to make conditions fair…
It all depends upon the repercussions of the new units and how it will affect gameplay.
Can’t wait for it to come out though, been an old member of H2H and Freedom, looking for a new taste ^^.

where is the damn game? It was taken down at gamedozer.com/battalion/. when is it coming back? Why take down the old version?
July 6th, 2009 at 10:46 ammrwaffle
i miss the old game it was awesome this is crap! i want it back!
July 6th, 2009 at 5:16 pmscarmichael
Guys… don’t worry. The old game is still alive inside of Arena. Classic Maps are Classic Battalion.
Once Arena is live, via Classic Maps you can play the same old Battalion you used to play.

So why is the game down right now?
July 8th, 2009 at 11:39 amscarmichael
The game’s not down… it’s still in Beta on Kongregate.com. Once it’s ready to go, we’ll let you know and then you can play Arena there.

The pay is good for urbansquall though, he gains something from the hard work, just most people don’t want to pay for an online game that is new….
July 9th, 2009 at 7:08 pmDeLos
No I mean why is the gaem down on gamedozer? gamedozer.com/battalion/ isn’t working. Why can’t we play that game while another one is developed?
July 13th, 2009 at 8:55 amurbansquall
DeLos, just whisper me on Kongregate and I’ll add you to the game there.

I like the battalion before when we werent restricted to certain maps and certain gameplay. I miss being able to make good maps most of which mine were in the 4.5-5.0 rating level. Why should poor kids and kids who are physically restrained from paying money for certain things.. why should they be restricted? all this talk about “classic maps” and “classic battalion” makes no sense to me. Anything “classic” should not be restricted. I say give us back publishing for at least 5 maps and allow us to access ALL maps. this game has more potential then zening (which i am playing now) but with all this restriction that potential is being suppresed

Hi is there anyway I can continue playing the old battalion now during summer like I used to on gamedozer ?
July 21st, 2009 at 3:51 amscarmichael
Nope… but you can jump in on the beta for Arena!

I am willing to pay for the premium but I am not willing to waste $20 on an unpopular game unless it is really worth it (at the moment it is not). The game is getting more popular but I have seen numerous complaints about how the premium/elite get too many benefits and thus people stop playing, but that could all change if a large amount of players start to play and paying for the game seems more worth it.
However, I still would like to Suggest that non-paying players have their map slots (maybe just one) available to play online (not publish if you want to restrict that). This would still make premium and elite worth it while giving more reason for players to create custom games (especially, if more paying members create these the game will become a lot better).

The game is still in beta, actually. It’s Open Beta, but Beta regardless. So the reason there aren’t as many users is that the game hasn’t even been announced yet. Once it goes live, I expect to see a huge boost in the number of players. So… don’t worry. The crowd is coming.
